The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000

The Job: The Human Resources and Communications Coordinator play a key role in supporting all aspects of HR functions, with a focus on implementing internal communications and engagement strategies that contribute to the overall employee experience.
Responsibilities
HR Team Support
- Provide administrative support to the VP, Chief of People and Culture, and ensure full office management, appropriate scheduling, oversees and complete all tasks to ensure the office is effectively represented and meets the demands of the Museum.
- Coordinate committee meetings, schedule, arrange for meeting locations, gather input and draft agenda and talking points, send confirmations, and ensure that minutes and meeting materials are received and distributed in a timely manner.
- Provide project management support for special initiatives and ongoing, recurring projects as assigned. Ensure project plans and timelines are developed, track progress, and review tasks to meet deadlines.
- Maintain HR department-wide calendar of special events and annual communications, and coordinate with other HR employees.Support with compliance across HR functions and ensure all required employee notices are current and posted.
- Responsible for organizing HR team events and planning meetings.
- Produce and maintain financial spreadsheets and manage purchase order process; prepare and process invoice and expense reports.
- Input employee data into HR systems and run reports as needed
- Assist in onboarding, orientation, recruiting, training, and any other HR support, as needed.
Communications and Engagement
- Develop and maintain internal communication strategies and content in partnership with HR leadership (e.g., weekly internal newsletter, intranet, etc.).
- Collaborate on development and maintenance of internal communication strategies and content.
- Support in the planning of events aligned with MSI’s engagement strategies.
- Plan and execute all major employee events (e.g., town halls, employee anniversary luncheon, summer picnic, exhibit previews for employees and their guests, holiday party).
- Maintain Employee Engagement schedule on the internal Museum-wide calendar
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Three (3) years Human Resource experience; professional certification in HR a plus
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Flexible and can adjust to new/changing priorities
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to facilitate small group discussions
- Experience with HRIS systems a plus
- This position must interact with all levels of employees, including senior management, and be able to make decisions to appropriately manage employees’ expectations.
- Language:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, etc.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
- Mathematical:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, turnover rates, retention rates, etc.
- Reasoning:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Physical:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
