The Job: The Annual Giving Director is responsible for Museum's individual annual giving programs, comprised of unrestricted individual contributions ranging from $2,500-$99,999. The position plays a pivotal role in collaborating with Museum leadership, trustees, and staff to ensure the achievement and surpassing of all fundraising and donor engagement goals. 
 

This is a hybrid position that requires occasional weekend and evening special event availability.
 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Museum's individual annual giving programs to achieve specified fundraising targets.
  • Oversee the strategy and implementation of Giving Circles (from $2,500 - $50,000+) ensuring clear communication of giving ranges and benefits to donors.
  • Manage auxiliary groups, including the President's Council and Black Creativity Council to foster collaboration, engagement, and impact.
  • Plan and execute fundraising plans for high-profile fundraising events, including the Black Creativity Gala and the Columbian Ball, to ensure their success in meeting revenue goals and engaging donors and prospects. 
  • Build strong relationships with Museum leadership, trustees, and key stakeholders to align individual giving strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Establish and achieve donor contact goals, ensuring meaningful engagement and stewardship of current and prospective donors.
  • Provide strategic input to Museum leadership regarding fundraising priorities and opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven (7) years' experience in annual giving, fundraising, or related areas with a minimum of 5 (five) years managing diverse teams.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, individual giving, and managing high-level donor relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising for large-scale fundraising events.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with focus on donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Strategic thinking and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be proactive, work independently, and accomplish results.
  • Language:
    • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical:
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic math figures and amounts.
  • Reasoning:
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concreate variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Physical:
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
    • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
    • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment:
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The salary range for this position is $118,000 - $134,000.
